Hi, I’m Isobel!
I’m a multi-passionate artist living and working in Manchester in the UK. Coming from a working class background, I wasn’t sure how much of a future I had in the arts, but I was driven to pursue it regardless! I graduated with a BA(Hons) Commercial Photography degree in 2017, and have gone on to work as a retoucher, photographer, and speaker. Many years into my photography career, I discovered that I’m disabled and neurodivergent, it completely changed the way I see and approach my work. I’ve since been dedicating my time to building a practice that works around my needs, so I can help other disabled creatives do the same in an increasingly challenging landscape!
I’ve become extremely passionate about disability justice, accessibility, and representation, and am lucky enough to have also been working as a disability justice advocate. I love talking about my story and how I’ve become the artist I am now, as well as my exciting plans for the future! I have recently become accredited as an Oliver McGowan co-trainer, using my lived experience to speak for those that struggle to advocate for themselves. My advocacy work is rooted in the social model of disability, and I am dedicated to helping create a more equitable society for us all through art and advocacy.
As an artist, a huge part of my job is to communicate ideas, and whilst photography has been my primary endeavour for the last decade and a half, I also love to write. paint digitally and with oil pastels, and am learning to draw again after putting down my pencils in favour of a stylus at the age of 16. I can be found creating elaborate fantasy scenes either from my imagination or that of my clients.
When working on commission I champion a bespoke, collaborative process, whilst you’re putting your trust in me to bring your vision to life, I make sure it’s really your vision that shines through! I pride myself on being adaptable, but with my signature bold and vibrant style.
I’ve worked with businesses big and small from Salford powerhouse gym, Siren Asylum, all the way to American Express and NIHR BioResource. I’ve worked with charities, performers, influencers, authors, and more!
